Where I Spent The Eclipse

Yaquina Bay Lighthouse and Newport Oregon a place I call home for July and August 2017. My wife and I are park host for the State Of Oregon.

Helping the state by volunteering at state parks we are host at the Lighthouse at Yaquina Bay when the eclipse show ups.

As the sunlight disappeared the lights came on and the flag waves proudly.

A once in a lifetime experience!

    1. Sandy you know how I felt at totality. It was so amazing, there was a collective wow at totality. According to reliable resources we, at Yaquina Bay, were the first to experience totality by 10 seconds..

    1. It is magical Roda, this is just July and August. We were at a Chinese Heritage Site at John Day, Oregon for June and will be in Bandon, Oregon for September. I will post some photos from both later. Thank you for visiting.😘💐🦄❤️

  1. Mel, your pictures are beautiful, and that one with the flag at totality is eerily stunning! I’ve been looking forward to this post for weeks now, ever since you so casually mentioned that this was your eclipse plan. You did not disappoint! Love it! ☀️ 😎 🌖

    1. Thank you Nel. I enjoyed your pictures as well. As for volunteering it is a labor of love. We get to know the areas around our host assignment. This allows us to discover the hidden wonders that only the locals know. Plus, it is 105 at home and 65 here. 👍🌹💐😘

  4. I hear it was cloudless in OR for the eclipse. What a treat. We were in Nashville and ran into some clouds so we jumped in the car and drove north to find a cloudless spot where we were blessed with viewing totality. Awesome, truly awesome. Thanks for sharing these photos.
