  1. Yep … that’s how I ended up teaching Drama … the niche that was tailor made for me !! I was called on the phone by a principal that asked me to come teach Drama at his school. I had been teaching in the regular classroom for 19 years. He said, “Wait. Stay by the phone. I’ll call right back.”
He called the State Department of Education. He said I had 16 of the 18 hours credit I needed to be certified to teach Drama. He hired me, I then taught one year at his school, was then called by another District in a nearby town, to teach there. I taught there for 17 years … total … 18 years teaching Drama … it utilized all my creativity. I dearly loved those 18 years. Soooooo, long story short … yes … I was OK with teaching in the regular classroom … but knew there had to be more. I got there … somehow … someway … without really actively seeking that career change. Thanks for reminding me, Mel, that we are all following paths, but the road signs along the way can take us on detours and oh so exciting side trips !!! jan
